International Nurses Day 2022!!!


'Lady with the Lamp' This was her nickname. Florence Nightingale was born on 12 May 1820 in Florence, Italy. She was a very good nurse, as well as the author of more than 150 books, pamphlets, and reports on health-related topics. 


Chose to become a nurse despite parental protests

When Florence was still a teenager, she began to feel that god had sent her to help the poor and sick. Although this profession was not respected at that time, Florence chose to become a nurse even after strong resistance from the family. By the time she was 33 years old, she started earning a name.


Florence continued to serve the soldiers during the Crimean War

During the Crimean war of 1854, british soldiers were heavily injured. There was no proper medical care available at that time. Florence with its team of 38 nurses constantly served the wounded soldiers. She would be engaged in the service of soldiers with lamps throughout the night. She got the nickname 'Lady with Lamp' at the same time. 

International Nurses Day begins

International Nurses Day was started on 12 May as it was the birthday of Florence Nightingale, so May 12th isconsidered as a significant date to all the nurses, as it is the anniversary of the birth of Nightingale.
