The water supply to the tirupati airport and the personnel quarters was disrupted. After a squabble between renigunta airport manager sunil and tirupati deputy mayor Abhinaya reddy, the son of andhra pradesh MLA B Karunakar reddy, the incident occurred. After the airport officials denied him access, Abhinaya reddy allegedly shut off the water supply. There was no quick response from the government.

The Reddys are the leaders of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu congress Party, which is in power (YSRCP). The airport Authority of india operates Tirupati's renigunta airport, which is an international airport (AAI). Abhinaya reddy had gone to the airport earlier this week to greet Botsa Satyanarayana, the minister of Andhra Pradesh. When he went to the airport, he got into a heated argument with the officials. Botsa Satyanarayana was in tirupati for the concluding ceremony of a national-level kabaddi tournament. 

Tirumala tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman yv subba reddy accompanied him. Botsa Satyanarayana and Subba reddy had arrived at the airport, and Abhinaya reddy had gone to meet them. Sunil, the airport authority manager, denied Abhinaya reddy and his aide access. The YSRCP leader and airport officials got into a heated confrontation as a result of this.

The water supply to the renigunta airport and the crew quarters was later turned off. Abhinaya reddy interpreted it as retribution. The municipal government, on the other hand, reported that the water supply was disrupted owing to a pipeline blockage. Residents also expressed their dissatisfaction with the drainage system. According to the municipal corporation, drainage water contaminates telugu Ganga water (supplied drinking water).
