On tuesday, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the andhra pradesh police filed criminal charges against 12 telugu desam party social media activists for allegedly spreading false information about the Y S jagan Mohan reddy government's welfare initiatives. These social media activists are accused of spreading a false message on social media claiming that the jagan government is cancelling two major welfare projects, Amma Vodi and Vahana Mitra. The posts went viral, causing alarm among the recipients.
Following a government complaint, the mangalagiri CID police station filed charges against 12 people for allegedly sharing the fraudulent post and making it viral. The CID also detained one Koganti Srinivas, who is thought to be the source of the post. They were charged under various Sections of the indian Penal Code, as well
They served all of them with notifications under Section 41A of the criminal Procedure Code, requesting that they come before the CID police for questioning by tuesday evening and wednesday morning. According to sources, additional tdp activists are likely to receive similar notices. tdp leaders went to the office of director General of police K v Rajendranath reddy after learning that the CID had charged tdp activists in the bogus social media posts case.
