trisha reflects on her two decades of acting in movies, some of her most recognisable roles, and how Kundavai in Mani Ratnam's masterpiece is a "woman of today put in the 10th century." A few weeks ago, a brief video clip from the year 2000 that showed a young trisha appearing on a discussion programme with actor yugi sethu and having just won Miss chennai became viral on social media.

When asked about movies, trisha, a student in Church Park's 12th grade who was just 17 at the time, appears horrified. "Not all, not at all! I'm not a fan of that. I'm going to limit myself to modelling at most; I'm absolutely certain I won't pursue acting. 22 years and 50 or so movies later, she finds it most amusing to think back on that initial interview. "That was really how I was feeling. My family didn't want me to work in the film business. In reality, they only required that I not pursue a career in acting when I first began modelling. Just goes to show how even the best-laid intentions may go awry. trisha chuckles.

She has now acted in movies for two decades as a leading lady with a track record of success at the box office in multiple languages. trisha has truly done it all, from making her acting debut in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002) with Suriya to currently starring in ponniyin selvan (2022) with an all-star ensemble directed by Mani Ratnam.

She continues to be really popular. Though she is occasionally active online, the star's most recent public appearance in years was at the PS-1 launch, where she was warmly embraced by fans. "I still value privacy to a certain extent, and I'm pretty traditional in how I communicate on social media. Having a platform to share my thoughts is beneficial, but I don't think of myself as being particularly influential in anything. Apart from those obligations, I believe it's beneficial for performers to preserve a certain amount of mystery about their lives, don't you? My film promotions or endorsements need me to post every so often.
