The 1,000-day long march against the trifurcation of the state capital was organised by the amaravati Parirakshana Samithi (APS) and the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of amaravati farmers, and it started in Venkatapalem. The 'Build amaravati Save Andhra Pradesh' padyatra is scheduled to end at Arasavalli in the srikakulam district on november 11 after travelling almost 1,000 kilometres through 16 districts.

After taking office in 2019, the YSRCP government decided to undo the tdp government's decision to make amaravati the sole state capital. Instead, amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and kurnool were chosen as the three state capitals to be developed. According to the jagan Mohan Reddy-led government's three-capital plan, amaravati in south coastal Andhra would continue to serve as the legislative capital while kurnool in rayalaseema will become the judicial capital. Visakhapatnam in north coastal Andhra will serve as the administrative capital.

The action was justified by the ruling party as ensuring decentralisation of development. The farmers travelled 45 days by padyatra from amaravati to tirupati last year. The rayalaseema area was traversed by the march known as "Nyayasthanam (High Court) to Devasthanam (Tirumala temple)". watch out this space for more updates in this regard.
