Notably, ZTE employed 1,000 employees and huawei employed 1,500 at the end of 2020. Amid India-China border issues, last year the central government ordered all telecom equipment to undergo a strict screening process.The central government had announced that telecom equipment should only be purchased and used from companies marked as 'Trusted Sources' or 'Trusted Products' due to cyber security concerns by Chinese telecom equipment companies. ZTE and huawei are still listed as 'Trusted Sources' and 'Trusted Products' While not getting the tag, these two companies are currently facing a tax evasion case in the Income Tax department. Both companies in india are currently servicing customers acquired before 2020.
