Joshi (Prithviraj Sukumaran), the proprietor of a mobile shop, appears at the start of the movie. He is awakened by his mother (Mallika Sukumaran), who informs him that a speaker-laden lorry has been parked at their gate. The lorry continues to linger there for a few days despite complaints to the police. He learns, to to his surprise, that they are gold bars rather than just speakers. Unnikrishnan has arranged for his daughter Sumangali (Nayanthara) to marry a want tobe wealthy family in the meantime. How do the gold bars relate to Unnikrishnan? Who put the car in the spot? Will Joshi exploit this? All of these questions have solutions in gold.

Alphonse Puthren has a cult following despite having only two films to his name. Due to the fact that gold is his comeback movie, expectations are understandably high. gold, however, is clearly not the return movie that Alphonse's admirers were hoping for. The movie's storyline is incredibly thin and mostly unchanging. In actuality, gold hardly had any content that could have been explained in a little movie.

You can't help but look back on your scientific lectures while watching gold for two and a half hours. Can time be stopped? Why does two hours seem to last five? You also get the answers to these scientific queries in addition to the tale of the gold bars. Having said that, gold also had intriguing concepts to research. However, Alphonse wrote a disjointed screenplay that did little to keep us interested. For instance, you are interested in how Prithviraj's Joshi will outperform the police. Imagine, though, if the entire process went on for thirty minutes. Alphonse, you see, we understand. It is not need to be a 30-minute sequence.

The essence of Gold—whatever is left of that movie—is prithviraj Sukumaran. He highlighted the character's frailties as Joshi. He can only do so much to clean up this mess, though. Nayanthara comes close to having a cameo in the movie. She looks lovely despite having less screen time. The work of directors of photography Anend C Chandran and Viswajith Odukkathil was flawless, particularly the lighting. Rajesh Murugesan provided some excellent music for Gold.

If Alphonse Puthren had given attention to the script's details, Alphonse Puthren's gold might have been a respectable heist comedy thriller.
