IT company wipro Limited has dismissed 300 employees for working in two places i.e. Moonlighting. When an employee works secretly in other places along with his regular job, then it is technically called 'Moonlighting'. wipro chairman Rishad Premji, who opened a front against moonlighting, has said that the company has no place for any such employee who works with rival companies while on Wipro's payroll.

Rishad Premji said at the National Conference of All india Management Association (AIMA) on Wednesday, 'Moonlighting is a complete violation of allegiance to the company. The reality is that today there are people who are working with wipro for a rival company as well.

Why are IT companies bothered by moonlighting?

IT companies are worried that productivity will be affected due to employees doing other jobs after regular working hours and due to this, situations like conflicts and data breaches can also arise.

Moonlighting is cheating with companies

The wipro chief has been a strong critic of Moonlighting since its inception and has even compared it to fraud within the company.
