Tamil Nadu Opposition party Leader Edappadi Palaniswamy has requested cm Stalin not to bring the Lottery back into the state as he warned it would ruin several lives and livelihood once again. Regarding this EPS has issued a statement which reads as "Lottery has ruined several lives and it was brought to tamil Nadu during DMK regime when karunanidhi was the chief minister and at that period other state Lotteries also dominated and slowly tamil Nadu people got addicted to it.

They initially sold one lottery ticket for Rs.10 and they announced the prize money worth Rs.1 Crore and this tempted people to buy the lottery tickets. Initially, we had One lakh as the maximum price and the cost of One lottery ticket was just one rupee, but DMK completely changed everything and ruined that Lottery market and finally we put curtains.

Soon, the Lottery became like a gambling addiction and we can see several agents behind these lottery tickets and then we also faced the problem of fake lottery tickets, and many people spent their whole month savings to buy several lottery tickets and finally many people in tamil Nadu lost their lives to this addiction. Finally, in 2003, Late cm Jayalalitha banned this lottery and now I warn cm Stalin not to bring this Lottery tickets once again inside the state."
