On thursday morning, a smear campaign was launched against bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter. The push utilised the hashtag #BoycottShahRukhKhan and was spearheaded by Arun Yadav, the BJP's State In-Charge of Information technology Department of Haryana. In a series of tweets, Yadav urged fans to boycott salman khan, Aamir Khan, as well as Shah Rukh Khan. He urged followers to boycott Khan and shared a number of messages accusing him of aligning with pakistan and using Islamophobic insults. Since thursday morning, #BoycottShahRukhKhan was trending on Social media, with over 30,000 messages. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan rallied to his defence.


Fans throughout india took to twitter with the hashtag #WeLoveShahRukhKhan as a counter-protest. Fans remembered all of the actor's nice deeds to demonstrate that he is not just a talented actor but also a wonderful human being. "The only indian star with the most honours for his charitable work as well as the only indian actor to get the UNESCO award for philanthropy Bharat ki Shaan, Shah Rukh Khan," one fan said. A Crystal Award has also been awarded to Shah Rukh Khan for his humanitarian activities. "It only goes to show how wonderful he is," commented another.
