The supreme court of india warned today that police personnel who collude with the current government and gain money unlawfully would surely suffer retaliation when the guard changes. Chief Justice NV ramana said such officers should be imprisoned rather than shielded, though he did give interim protection from arrest until october 1 to the official facing extortion allegations.
Gurjinder Pal Singh, a suspended IPS officer, has filed an anti-arrest petition in a case of disproportionate assets and sedition brought by the chhattisgarh government. Because two other linked instances in which Mr Singh was previously given similar relief are scheduled for hearing on october 1, the temporary protection was granted.

"You won't be able to take precautions in every situation. Because you had a tight relationship with the government, you began extorting money. This is what happens when you have a tight relationship with the government and do stuff like this. You must repay me one day, "Ramana, the Chief Justice said.

Today, Chief Justice ramana ordered him to unconditionally comply with the investigative agency.
Despite this, Chief Justice ramana gave Mr Singh interim protection and sent a notice to the state government of Chhattisgarh.
