Navjot Sigh Sidhu, the punjab congress president, announced his resignation on Tuesday. On Twitter, he posted his resignation letter to congress President sonia Gandhi.

"The compromise corner causes a man's character to crumble. When it comes to Punjab's future and the agenda for its welfare, I would never compromise. As a result, I am stepping down as President of the punjab Pradesh congress Committee. I shall continue to serve the congress," Navjot Sidhu stated in his resignation letter.

Navjot Singh Sidhu is a politician from the indian national congress, a tv personality, and a former international cricketer. He was the President of the punjab Pradesh congress Committee at the time. He was previously the minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs in the State of Punjab's local government. Sidhu joined the indian national congress in january 2017. In the 2017 punjab Assembly elections, he ran for and won the seat of amritsar East.
