The chennai Corporation has announced the amount of fines that would be imposed on persons who litter in public areas in Chennai. In this regard, the Corporation of chennai has imposed a punishment of Rs.500 on individuals who discard garbage in public and private spaces, as well as those who dump garbage from vehicles. Individuals who dump unsorted garbage will be punished Rs 100, flats will be fined Rs 1,000, and those who manufacture large garbage will be penalised Rs 5,000.

Those who dump garden debris and wood waste in public places have been fined Rs 200. Those who throw waste in sewerage and canal water bodies face a fine of Rs.500. Those who burn solid garbage in private places face a punishment of Rs 500, while those who do so in public places face a fine of Rs 1,000. 

A fine of Rs.2000 will be imposed for those who dump construction waste upto 1 ton and for those who dump the construction waste more than 1 ton will be fined upto Rs.5000. The fine will be collected immediately and if failed to paid, the charges will be doubled immediately and severe penalties will be also filed. All these new rules are implemented in order to glorify and clean chennai Corporation under Singara chennai scheme.
