Governor RN ravi has lauded Rajini as an educator who has captivated the country's youth, calling this a "golden age" that will make everyone who enjoys movies happy. The Dada Saheb Phalke Award is the highest honour bestowed upon indian filmmakers by the Central Government. Rajinikanth has been named the winner of the 2019 award. The Corona threat forced the event to be postponed. At the 67th National Film Awards in Delhi, Rajini received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Vice President venkaiah naidu presented Rajinikanth with the award.

Several parties, including tamil Nadu chief minister Stalin, have congratulated Rajinikanth on his award-winning success. Rajini was also congratulated by the governor of tamil Nadu, RN Ravi. "On behalf of the people of india and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate them for their great contribution to the indian film business, the highest honour in the indian cinema world, the famous Dada Saheb Phalke Award," he said in a statement released.
