Rajini claimed that he would not survive if there had been no tamil people when he received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. The Dada Saheb Phalke Award is the highest honour bestowed upon indian artists by the National Government. Rajinikanth has been named the winner of the 2019 award. The Corona threat forced the event to be delayed. At today's 67th National Film Awards in Delhi, Rajini received the Dada Saheb Phalke Award.

The honour was presented by Republican Vice President venkaiah Naidu. Anurag Thakur, the Union minister for Information and Communication, and L Murugan, the Union minister for the Internet, were also in attendance. Everyone in attendance applauded Rajini and praised him. After receiving the award, Rajini said, "I am ecstatic to be the recipient of this prestigious award. Thank you to the central government for bestowing this award on me in the name of Dada Saheb Phalke.

This honour is dedicated to my Guru K. balachander Sara, my mentor. I'm thinking of him right now, and I'm grateful for everything he's done for me. Satyanarayana Kejriwal, my brother, who reared me as a father. I recall him as someone who instilled in me good morals and spirituality. My friend raj Bahadur, a bus driver who worked with me in Karnataka, comes to mind. Rajapaksa was the one who noticed my acting talent when I was a conductor. He urged me to pursue a career in movies.

I recall the producers and directors who produced and directed my movies, as well as the technical experts who worked on them, as well as the co-stars, distributors, theatre owners, the press, and all of my admirers. If there were no Tamils here, I would not be here. Thank you to the gods who keep me alive, the tamilnadu people."
