e-Shram portal: With the availability of data on the portal of workers of the unorganized sector, it will be easier for them to access the benefits of social security schemes.

The government hopes that through this the identification of eligible people will become easier.

The registration of workers in the unorganized sector on e-Shram portal has crossed the 8 crore mark.

More women than men have registered on the portal. And similarly, the maximum number of people in the age group of 18-40 years have registered.

The government aims to connect 38 crore people on the Shram Portal. Through the Shram Portal, by connecting construction workers, migrant workers, street vendors, workers working in the houses, etc. working under the unorganized sector, it will help to make social security schemes and benefit from them.

Get 12 digit registration number

After registering on the Shramik Portal, the workers get a unique 12-digit number.

On the basis of which the government will be able to avail the benefits of the schemes related to them.

In addition, their information will also be available. Doing so will also reduce the chances of fraud. And the eligible people of the schemes will be able to get the benefit.

Agriculture sector workers are most involved

Most of the people associated with the agriculture sector have registered on the e-Shram portal.

According to the data till 18 november 2021, more than 8.15 crore workers have registered on the portal. Out of this, more than 4.35 crore agricultural workers have registered.

After this, more than 99 lakh people of the construction sector, more than 71 lakh domestic workers, more than 50 lakh people of the apparel sector have registered.

Highest registration of workers of bengal and UP

The maximum number of people from West bengal and Uttar Pradesh have registered on the e-Shramik portal.

Under this, more than 1.96 crore workers from West bengal, more than 1.50 crore from Uttar Pradesh, 1.17 crore from odisha and more than 92 lakh workers of bihar have registered.

People with less than 10 thousand income

The maximum number of people earning less than Rs 10,000 have registered on the Shram Portal.

Which accounts for 92.7 per cent of the total registrations. Similarly, the share of women is 51.71 per cent and that of men is 48.29 per cent in those who register.

Due to the lack of accurate figures, in the first and second waves of Corona, the central and state governments had a lot of trouble in providing benefits of the schemes to the migrant workers. In view of this, the e-Shram portal can prove to be very effective for the future.
