New Delhi: The supreme court has issued an ultimatum to the Center on air pollution in Delhi. If the Center does not take action within 24 hours, the supreme court will take a direct decision, said Chief Justice NV Ramana. 



The court also slammed the delhi government for opening schools despite the pollution.



The apex court today slammed the central and state governments for not taking steps to curb pollution despite repeated directives. 



The apex court observed that nothing could be done to reduce the level of pollution and expressed strong dissatisfaction with the government's promise.

The court had earlier sought the Centre's response on the continuation of construction of Central Vista. The Center said that Central Vista was exempted from the construction ban as it was a construction of national importance.

The Chief Justice has now issued an ultimatum to take immediate action. The Solicitor General asked for a one-day delay to announce the decision. The court will reconsider the case tomorrow.
