The Omicron warning has increased surveillance at airports. Foreign passengers have claimed that enough amenities have not been provided, and corona security measures have not been implemented. In 12 nations, including South Africa, China, Singapore, and New Zealand, outbreaks appear to be worsening.

The World health Organization (WHO) has warned that the virus could be contagious, prompting federal and state governments to take additional precautions. At four international airports in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy, surveillance has been stepped up. All tourists from these countries will be subjected to corona testing. The results take 3 to 4 hours to be available. Passengers are stranded at the airport till then. When it is determined that there is no risk of infection, they are allowed to go outside.

In addition, three teams of doctors led by the Deputy director of the health Department Paranitharan are inspecting the passengers on behalf of the Chengalpattu district administration. Passengers are subjected to RTPCR tests upon disembarkation and departure from the airport for a fee of Rs.700. Similarly, no officers are present to inform passengers of the rules. The testing is done solely by renowned doctors.
