Wasim Rizvi, former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board, has converted to hinduism after making headlines for his controversial remarks.



 He converted to islam at the Dashna temple in Uttar Pradesh. Following the remarks against the babri masjid, the news was full of people filing a public interest petition in the supreme court seeking the banning of 26 verses from the Qur'an.



Swami Yati Narasinganand, the Chief Priest of the Dashna temple, presided over the conversion ceremony. 



The priest also announced that Rizvi's name will be converted to Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi.



Rizvi said that now they are adopting the path of Sanatana Dharma.

Wasim Rizvi had earlier demanded in a video that his body should not be buried and should be buried according to Hindu custom. 



And also Rizvi said that Narasingha Ananda Saraswati, the priest of the Dashna temple in Ghaziabad, should lead the funeral procession.



Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, National President of the All india Hindu Mahasabha, encouraged Rizvi's conversion. 



Swami Chakraborty responded that Wasim Rizvi is now part of the Sanatana dharma and was welcomed by the Hindu Mahasabha.



 Chakrapani said that no religious fanatic would dare to issue a fatwa against Rizvi anymore.



He had filed a petition in the court seeking the banning of 26 verses of the Qur'an alleging that it promotes terrorism and jihad.

 



Wasim Rizvi claimed that these verses were added long after the revelation of the Qur'an.


Rizvi also wrote a book that badly portrayed the Prophet, Muhammad.

Earlier, Rizvi had said that the babri masjid was built on the ruins of a temple and that it was an insult to India.
