The army helicopter carrying the Chief of Defense Staff i.e. CDS General Bipin Rawat crashed in Coonoor, tamil Nadu (CDS Bipin Rawat Helicopter Crash) in which he died. Many statements of General Bipin Rawat were in discussion while being the Chief of army Staff.


A total of 13 people including CDS Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika Rawat have died in the accident. Apart from Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika and other army officers were present in the helicopter during the accident. 

The rescue operation was going on after the accident. A total of 14 people were aboard this army helicopter. Let us inform that General Bipin Rawat took over as the highest officer of the three forces on january 1, 2020, last year. 


• In 2017, General Bipin Rawat gave a statement on stone pelters in Kashmir. Which got a lot of headlines. Bipin Rawat had said about the stone pelters that I wish these people used weapons instead of throwing stones at us. I would have been happy then. Then I could do what I wanted to do.

• CDS Bipin Rawat was criticized by former indian army officers for a suggestion related to retired soldiers. In fact, in the suggestion, he had said that there should be a code of conduct governing retired soldiers. However, the army Headquarters had made its stand clear in the matter that it does not support any such code of conduct.

• During his interview on a news channel, when Bipin Rawat was asked about the fighter role of women in the army, he gave a shocking statement. He had said that women can get into trouble if they are deployed with men in the fighter role. They can complain about the men peeping into the tents while changing clothes. He had said that 'she (women) will say that someone is peeping, so we have to give a sheet around them.' He was bluntly articulating the challenge of deploying women in the forward role.

• In 2017, Bipin Rawat honoured Major Litul Gogoi with the Chief of army Staff's Commendation for his sustained efforts in counter-insurgency operations in Kashmir. Let us tell you that during the deployment in Kashmir, Major Litul had been in the headlines for tying a man in front of a jeep on Gogoi. Actually, Litul Gogoi did this to save his convoy from being targeted by stone pelters. 


• In december 2018, an opinion of Bipin Rawat given regarding the disability pension to the soldiers of the indian army had created a lot of controversies. In fact, he had warned those soldiers who crave to earn extra money through pension by falsely showing themselves to be disabled. He had said that if any soldier is really handicapped, then we will give special attention to him and will help him financially as well. 

But, those who wrongly call themselves Divyang and make their disability a way to earn money, I am warning them that you better rectify this matter in your own way, otherwise, in few days, you will be removed from army Headquarters. Special instructions may be received, which will not be good news for you.


• A statement by General Bipin Rawat in december 2019, which was in opposition to the nationwide demonstrations against the citizenship amendment act (CAA), in a matter of publicly condemning the violent protests.

 There was a lot of controversy over this statement. He said that many university and college students are leading thousands of mobs who are doing violence and arson in our cities. This is not leadership.


 A leader is one who leads you in the right direction and gives you the right advice. This statement of Bipin Rawat was criticized by opposition leaders and senior retired army officers.
