The third wave of the corona travels quicker than the second wave. In tamil Nadu, the number of daily infections has risen from 6,983 on the 6th to 23,975 yesterday. The tamil Nadu government allows only RT-PCR testing to diagnose infected patients. In this context, the sale of self-corona testing kits (Rapid Antigen Test) in private pharmacies has surged as the incidence of infections has increased.

Pharmacies are selling a kit for Rs.250 because there are no limits on buying and using it. Furthermore, major online shopping and pharmacy sites boast that results can be obtained in 15 minutes and that they sell at a slightly lower cost than pharmacies. Many individuals have begun to utilize it because it is less expensive and can be tested at home than the RT-PCR test. However, because most people do not know how to correctly utilize that kit, they are more likely to get incorrect results.

Furthermore, doctors claim that the 'Rapid Antigen Test' results may not be accurate. Many people are more likely to spread the virus if the results of self-examination of an infected individual are inaccurate and he or she ventures outdoors thinking he or she does not have a corona. As a result, there is pressure on the government to regulate the sale of self-test kits.
