The whole telugu film industry has been campaigning for an increase in ticket pricing in andhra pradesh cinemas till recently. While movie ticket prices in telangana were already very high, famous heroes, producers, and distributors put pressure on Andhra Pradesh's Y S jagan Mohan reddy administration to raise ticket costs. After much campaigning, the jagan government finally gave in to their demands and raised cinema ticket rates significantly. Extra costs of Rs 50 per ticket have been added to the large budget flicks.

Initially, the rising costs caused a lot of joy among the filmmakers. The greatest winner was S S Rajamoul's big-budget picture rrr, which made a lot of money because to the higher ticket prices. However, films such as Prabhas' radhe shyam and megastar Chiranjeevi's Aacharya tanked at the box office, while Mahesh Babu's Sarkaruvari Paata struggled to break even despite increased rates, additional levies, and extra shows.

When the films failed to generate negative buzz on the first day, audiences stopped going to the movies, believing there was no point in wasting so much money on such films – each ticket in a multiplex cost not less than Rs 300, and a family of four had to pay anywhere between Rs 1200 and Rs 1500 to see a film. Middle-class consumers are also unable to afford to pay so much to see a movie in single-screen theatres, especially when the costs of all goods have risen rapidly in recent months.

Even the stars' strongest admirers are supposed to believe that waiting a few days to watch the film on an OTT site or through channels is preferable. As a result, even blockbuster films like rrr and acharya will be available on OTT platforms in the coming days. tollywood producers and exhibitors are claimed to have realised that the raised ticket prices have caused them more harm than good in this situation. Ticket prices have become a hurdle to attracting people to theatres, particularly for smaller budget films.

They are reportedly rumoured to be considering requesting "rationalisation" of ticket prices in order to increase attendance in the first week of the film's release. According to reports, several tollywood producers and distributors are planning to meet soon to resolve the situation. They are required to come up with a through-the-media solution for movie ticket prices so that they do not suffer significant losses.
