Just 33% of respondents to a Gallup poll conducted last week believed that Biden should be reelected, while 67% said that he did not deserve a second term. That is 4 percentage points less than the level of support for Trump's reelection seen in a poll conducted in april 2018—more than two years before he took against Biden. According to the Times/Siena poll, the economy and "inflation and the cost of living" were ranked as the two biggest issues confronting the US, respectively, by 20% of respondents and 15% of respondents, respectively.
For 5% of respondents, the two biggest issues were abortion and women's rights. In a significant decision on june 24, the supreme court declared that there is no federal right to abortion, overturning a nearly 50-year-old finding it made in the Roe v. Wade case. As a result of the ruling, abortion is anticipated to eventually be prohibited or severely limited in nearly half of the US states. According to The Guardian in the UK, on the Republican side of the ballot, "Someone else" (besides Trump) also took the lead with 38.1% of the vote.
