Jaganmohan reddy faced a significant defeat in the recent andhra pradesh state assembly elections. The ycp managed to win only 11 assembly seats and secured just four MPs, while the telugu desam party (TDP) alliance gained an overwhelming majority and posed a strong challenge to the YCP.

Several factors contributed to the YCP's poor performance. Jaganmohan Reddy's governance over the past five years included controversies such as the amaravati capital issue, the proposal of three capitals, the demolition of opposition leaders' houses, and targeting Chandrababu Naidu's family with legal cases. Additionally, Sharmila's actions played a role in Jaganmohan Reddy's defeat.

Sharmila took several initiatives against Jaganmohan reddy, influencing the people of Andhra Pradesh. Political analysts suggest that internal family issues and perceived injustices against Sharmila, combined with false news spread by the telugu desam party and Yellow Media, swayed public opinion. Many people believed the narrative that Jaganmohan reddy had wronged his own sister.

Sharmila, instead of resolving issues through dialogue with her brother, chose to declare war on him. Her candidacy in the kadapa Constituency as an mp challenged Jagan's stronghold. Although she did not win, Sharmila's actions indirectly contributed to Jaganmohan Reddy's defeat. This internal family conflict and strategic missteps have left YS Rajasekhar Reddy's family in a difficult position. The ycp contends that the tdp alliance and Yellow Media, now in power, are further destabilizing the situation.
