In India, an increasing number of people are choosing to live overseas instead of renewing their indian citizenship and passports. The government is quite concerned because it is not giving its residents greater chances or a better quality of life. In a recent Reddit post, a 23-year-old indian IT engineer who makes ₹1 lakh a month brought attention to this problem. Many people agreed after a debate that living overseas is preferable to remaining in India.

Dual citizenship is not allowed under the indian constitution. This implies that persons must give up their indian identity in order to completely reside outside. This attitude is supported by recent data, which shows that 2.25 lakh indians renounced their citizenship in 2022—a record figure. 87,026 indian passports had already been turned in by june 2023, with the US, Canada, and australia emerging as the most popular destinations.

More than 13 million indians, including specialists, workers, and professionals, reside overseas. The countries in the Middle East, particularly saudi arabia and the United Arab Emirates, are not far behind and are home to the greatest number of indian workers. These people won't find anything that the government can do to reassure them. They therefore seize the chance to provide their family with a better and safer future.
