NCB major action in Delhi; 350 crores worth of heroin seized

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has launched a major operation in the shaheen bagh and Jamia areas of the national capital, exposing a large-scale drug trafficking syndicate and seizing drugs worth about Rs 350 crore. The operation, carried out by the Bureau of Narcotics Control, involved people of Afghan, Pakistani and indian descent, and is an Indo-Afghan syndicate.

The seized consignment was kept in jute bags in different quantities. A man of indian descent has been arrested in connection with the syndicate. Investigations are underway in other cities. Speaking on the occasion, DDG Dnyaneshwar Singh said that while conducting a covert operation, raids were carried out in the shaheen bagh and Jamia areas of Delhi. At that time, 50 kg of heroin and 47 kg of suspected drugs were seized from a house. A cash and note counting machine worth Rs 30 lakh was also seized.

Investigations have revealed that the seized heroin was smuggled into india from the sea and pakistan border by creating a hollow in a tree branch. The NCB also suspects that the seized cash was brought to india through hawala.

Singh said the international syndicate in india has connections to various cities in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. He said that even before this, the syndicate had smuggled drugs into india in various items.
