Pakistan Blast: people were blown away in the explosion...

Many people had congregated in the mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan, for afternoon prayers at the time of the explosion. Shahzad Kaukab, the superintendent of police in charge of investigations in Peshawar, told the media that the incident occurred as he was entering the mosque to offer prayers, but fortunately, he survived. His workplace is close to the mosque.

According to a police officer, the explosion caused a portion of the mosque to collapse.  In this, the rags of many people were blown away, while many were buried under the debris. He claims that the bomber entered the mosque's four-layer security system while behind police barriers. According to the Dawn newspaper, rescuers were attempting to extricate a number of soldiers who were trapped beneath the rubble.

300 to 400 police officers were on duty in the vicinity at the time of the explosion. There has definitely been a security breach.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned this attack. He said that the attackers who are behind this incident have nothing to do with Islam. He said that the terrorists want to create fear by targeting those who perform the duty of protecting Pakistan. Said that the martyrdom of those killed in the blast will not go in vain. The entire nation is united in the fight against this menace of terrorism. Sharif said a holistic strategy would be adopted to combat the deteriorating law and order situation in restive khyber pakhtunkhwa and the federal government would help the provinces to enhance their anti-terrorist capability.
