The delhi police have cordoned off the whole area around Jantar Mantar in preparation for a planned farmers' demonstration. The 'Kisan Panchayat' sit-in, which will begin near Parliament, is part of a fresh campaign to persuade the government to abolish the legislation. A huge contingent of police officers and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed to the protest location, and extensive barricading has been erected.

Preventive measures have been put in place by the police to prevent criminals from crossing the Tikri border. Farmers were allowed to conduct a demonstration on wednesday after signing a pledge not to march towards Parliament, according to delhi Police. The delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has approved the demonstration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a daily limit of 200 protestors who must adhere to Covid-19 regulations.

On Thursday, a group of farmers staged a protest in New Delhi's Jantar Mantar. They want the laws repealed because they believe they favour huge private merchants. For over eight months, tens of thousands of farmers have camped out on key highways heading to New Delhi. According to the administration, new legislation will be implemented in september 2020.
