Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Warner is a huge star. But this hasn't been his year, though he led them to the 2016 IPL victory, has struck a chord with hyderabad residents with his numerous social media posts about telugu pop culture. He began the season as captain, then lost his band, then his spot in the first half, and now, in the second half, he was forced to cheer on the Sunrisers from his hotel room as they pulled off only their second win of the tournament this year.

On Instagram, Warner praised his substitute, Jason Roy, for his efforts, before implying that he could be done for the season and won't even be making the ground trips. Coach Trevor Bayliss of the Sunrisers verified this but also gave an explanation for Warner's decision to stay at the hotel.

As they would not be able to make the final, Bayliss stated that they have taken the choice to allow the young players to experience not only the games but also time at the ground, around the set-up, and for this match, they have made the decision. They wanted to bring a few young guys along to see what it was like. That may go on for a few more games. Warner was not the only experienced player remaining at the hotel, according to him, as kedar jadhav and Shahbaz Nadeem were also there.

The fact that Warner has been dropped twice in a season and is not part of the leadership group strategizing on the ground has sparked conjecture that Warner's time with the Sunrisers is coming to an end.
