Are Schools Reopening for primary students?: From DISRUPTION to RECOUPING, ICMR Chief

It has been 18 months since the COVID pandemic outbreak began and schools all over the nation are forced to shutter, in turn affecting over 100 million students.

As children can handle viral attacks much better than grownups, the ICMR chief Balram Bhargava justified that the kids have a low number of ace receptors, a place where viruses attach and, therefore the decision of reopening schools and colleges can be considered on a positive note by beginning with primary grades.

On Considering the reopening of education institutions, the schools or the government must ensure that teachers and the supporting members in school are vaccinated. A recent serosurvey made by ICMR reveals the result of seroprevalence among the 6 to 9-year-olds was shockingly only 57.2%.

In the efforts on limiting transmission, the government have shut down schools for prolonged periods. But in some parts of the Scandinavian countries, the primary sectors remained opened all round the year. The losses that children and young brains had incurred from being away in school can never be regained.

The most affected group is the young learners from low-resource backgrounds who don't have access to any learning tools. So according to ICMR chief schools should be reopened to avoid a generational catastrophe.

When the entire nation, is facing a Vaccination shortage, is it safe to let the kids explore the world?
