The government of tamil Nadu has announced that colleges will be started under the fund of the Department of Hindu Religious Affairs.
Following this, the Department of Higher education has given permission to start colleges of arts and sciences with 4 subjects of B.Com, BPA, PCA and B.Sc Computer Science in 4 places namely chennai Kolathur, Namakkal district Tiruchengode, Dindigul district Thoppampatti, Thoothukudi district Vilathikulam.
Subsequently, on behalf of the Mylapore Kabaliswarar temple in Kolathur, chennai, it was planned to start a college on about 5 acres of land owned by the somnath Swamy temple, and during the current academic year, the Kabaliswarar college of Arts and Sciences was temporarily housed on the campus of the Kolathur Everwin Matriculation High school in Chennai.

So far 210 students are enrolled in this college. The college was inaugurated by chief minister MK stalin yesterday and the chief minister distributed book bags to 10 students. In this situation, all the tuition fees and educational equipment of all the students joining the college this year are to be provided free of cost as per the arrangement of the Chief Minister.
