What is cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is cancer of the mouth of the uterus. According to the World health Organization WHO, cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women in the world and according to the assessment, 6,04,000 new cases of this cancer were reported in the year 2020 and 3,42,000 women died due to this.

Generally, the symptoms of this cancer are not visible in the early stages, and only when the disease has spread enough, its symptoms start showing. If the vaccine is approved, then it could prove to be a revolutionary step toward the treatment of cancer in women.

Cervical cancer vaccine imported from other countries

So far in india, cervical cancer vaccine is imported from other countries. Under the government Vaccine Program, this vaccine is not available for free. Due to its import from other countries, its price is also very high and its reach in small towns and villages is very limited. The Modi government is considering including the cervical vaccine in the vaccination program as part of the plan to expand health programs.
