Doctors are observing an increase in cases of new or worsening back,  neck, and shoulder discomfort among young adults as people continue to work from home owing to the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic.

The aberrant functionality/flexibility of the scapula   (shoulder bone)  inside the shoulder joint is known as sick scapula syndrome, also known as Scapular Dyskinesis. Pain and difficulties moving the shoulder or arm are the most frequent symptoms of sick scapula syndrome.   Concerning the same, There has been a 20-25 percent rise in instances of Sick Scapula Syndrome in young persons aged 30-45 years since the start of WFH culture and lockdown during the pandemic.

Athletes, on average, have a greater prevalence of percent dyskinesis   (about 61%)   than non-athletes. However,   the present work-from-home culture (WFH),   which promotes bad sitting posture and continuous sitting for long hours without a break, has resulted in such occurrences among ordinary workers.

According to specialists, the lockdown has resulted in a high number of cases of musculoskeletal problems caused by idleness or over-exercise. And the ones connected to poor posture are becoming more visible,   especially now that offline actual sitting in workplaces has begun,  and the posture modifications to which we have adapted our bodies while working from home must be corrected.
Sick scapula syndrome has become more common, especially among IT professionals, desk employees  , and  receptionists , which requires careful monitoring to diagnose. Once a problem has been identified, aggressive behavioural change combined with exercise can assist.
