Omicron: The Department of health says there will be no reduction in vaccine dosage intervals

The indian Council of Medical Research said that people should be extra vigilant and not delay in getting vaccinated if the new variant is confirmed.

The Central health Department says the interval between two doses of covid-19 vaccination will not be reduced.

In karnataka, the health ministry has said that the vaccine interval may be reduced due to the confirmation of the Omicron variant in two people.

"Although Omicron has been confirmed in karnataka, no decision has been taken to reduce the two-dose interval of covid-19 vaccination," VK Paul, a member of the Judicial health Commission, told in a news conference.

The Omicron variant was confirmed by two karnataka natives who visited South Africa. The ministry said they are collecting information on primary and secondary contacts with them and had collected samples of 10 passengers for genetic monitoring.

Mild symptoms are seen in all cases associated with omicron.

In all such cases in the country and around the world, no serious symptoms have been reported so far.

The World health Organization (WHO) said in a statement that it was " they are learning more about this."
