New Delhi: In the wake of the Omicron menace, the government has decided to give the country a booster dose as per the World health Organization (WHO) guidelines.

The World health Organization's Scientific Advisory Committee will meet today to examine the issue. At present, there are no reports of immunosuppression in those who have completed vaccination in the country, the Center said.

Guidelines for pediatric vaccination may be issued soon. The number of Omicron victims in the country is on the rise. The results of the genetic sequencing test of more samples from states including maharashtra, Telangana, delhi and rajasthan will be released today.

So far 23 cases have been confirmed in the country.

Health experts predict that if the Omicron outbreak intensifies, there will be a third wave of Covid in the country by February. With more than half of the country receiving the vaccine and the risk of omicron being low, it is expected that the third wave will not intensify.

In maharashtra alone, 10 people are being treated for Omicron. The 36-year-old from south africa and his friend, a 37-year-old from the United States, was last confirmed by Omicron yesterday.

Maharashtra has increased the number of diagnoses and reduced the RTPCR test rate.

The test rate in labs has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 350. 700 will now be enough to come home and collect samples. The rate of RTPCR tests at the airport has also been reduced.
