QR code on watermelon in Kanjikuzhi in Alappuzha. The QR code can be used to scan the location of the crop, the seeds used, the fertilizer, the name of the cultivator, the price and the associated number. Thanni Mathan, cultivated by Sujith, a young farmer from Kanjikuzhi, has come up with a QR code and distributed it in shops with the aim of giving non-toxic to the locals.

With the advent of watermelon from other states, such a scheme was implemented to quickly identify the indigenous varieties produced in our country. The aim is to give preference to watermelons grown in the eyes of the natives over those grown in other states using fertilizers and pesticides. This was done to convince the people.

Sujith says that if this is successful, he will bring QR code in the vegetables he produces. 2 The watermelon season in Kanjikuzhi is six months each. Different varieties are cultivated at different times. Sujith has so far harvested about 3,000 watermelons in his 2.5 acre field. Harvest is from summer to monsoon.
