1 kg of tomatoes sold for 110 rupees..? Will increase again..!?

Yesterday morning, in the coimbatore market, a kilo of native tomato was sold for 100 rupees and naveen tomato for 110 rupees. In retail shops, naveen tomato was sold for 130 rupees. Muthukumar, president of the coimbatore Market Traders 'Association, said,' Tomato prices have gone up due to rains and low supply. The price hike is likely to continue for a few more days, he said.Accordingly, four co-operative societies, including the Tiruvallikeni City Co-operative Society, also known as TUCS, in chennai, are running farm green vegetable stalls at 36 locations, including Thenampet, Tiruvallikeni, and Anna Nagar. For this, 3,100 kg of tomatoes were procured from the farmers and sent to the shops for sale. The tomatoes were fully sold out and gone in no time. It is also said that tomato prices will increase again in the coming days.
