The number of Gig workers in india has increased from 68 lakhs in 2019-20 to 75 lakhs now and it is projected that this number is likely to be very high in the year 2029, especially since 4.1% of the total workforce will be Gig workers.The Finance Commission also said in a statement that the number of Gig workers in the retail, sales, transport, and financial insurance sectors was high.
