Many people are under the impression that rags to riches stories will happen only on silver screen. However there are many rags to riches stories in India and film industry witnessed many such stories.Successful director Maruthi who mastered the art of making youthful entertainers shared his rags to riches story which makes a fascinating reading and inspires many to work hard in testing times and taste success. 

Maruthi revealed that he was a normal student


Maruthi revealed that he was a normal student as a son of Banana seller in Machilipatnam. He said his dad used to sell bananas in front of a theater and he used to carry him lunch for him every day. Maruthi said he used to sell Bananas while his father had lunch and during that time he often bribed theater watchman with bananas and watched films without ticket during interval and that was how he watched films like Kanchana Seetha, Chettu Kinda Pleader and Kanakamaha Lakshmi Dance Troup.


Maruthi shared how his interest in drawing increased as he opened his notebook to draw posters and cutouts of at various theatres. Maruthi became office boy at his Uncle's motor agency office after his 10th class in holidays and used to take commission earning Rs/day. Maruthi says he did stickering of number plates during his college days to become 'stickering Maruthi' to earn 5-10 Rs per number place. Maruthi later approached GK.Mohan who came to Machilipatnam for his Cheppukondi Chooddam in Gemini TV to decorate the stage.Maruthi couldn't take the contract as his parents were against it. 


In search of job,Maruthi came to Hyderabad and worked as assistant to art director Ashok for Radiant Antyakshari program. He returned back to Machilipatnam and later met his life Spandana. According to Maruthi it was life Premiste 1st half thoush it wasn't 
released by that time,with him going on his customer's bike following Spandana to college. 

Animation at Annapurna Studios's


Maruthi realised that he should earn a lot to convince Spandana's parents who were well off and returned to Hyderabad. He achieved his dream and married Spandana.Maruthi joined foundation course in Animation at Annapurna Studios's Animation company Heart Animation by paying 15k from the 18k he earned from stickering and completed the course staying at his sister's house. 


Maruthi got USA scholarship during the course and after completing BBA he joined Sriven Multi Tech during which Allu Aravind after returning from Chennai contacted him to teach drawing to Bunny. Both became friends as he used to teach him asking him to come to his office and they used to eat in mess and go triple riding on bikes.Maruthi went on to direct Mass and Atadu logos for Kiran Ads and Pawan Kalyan who was impressed gave him money. When Bunny told Maruthi's intentions to direct, he said 1000 people come to industry to direct, only 100 get work in direction department as assistants and only 4 get to direct films.


Maruthi dropped his idea abut when Bunny Vas told that Arya film came out quite well,he brought the rights for East Godavari district, he invested 5 laks for Palakollu making double profits. When he invested on 7G Brindavan Colony, many doubted but he made good profits. But he made huge loses when he invested 25 lacs in his friend Sekhar Suri's A film By Aravind. Maruthi partnered with Santosham Suresh after watching Kadhal in DVD and bagged the rights which became a hit. When Allu Bobby asked Maruthi to design for their clothline he did it during which Mega Star Chiranjeevi asked him to design Praja Rajyam logo. Chiru asked him to do ads for Praja rajyam and this gave him confidence to direct a film. 


He attended RGV's Dongala Mutha premier and his press conference for using 5D camera and Harish Shankar's suggestion inspired him to bring 5D camera with lenses. Maruthi shelved Bus Stop with a son of a politician as hero as parents were not interested to invest after ten days shoot. Later SKN and G.Srinivasa rao became producers and went on to shoot Ee Rojullo in which Hero Sree invested 3 lakhs. Film with 52 lakhs budget went on to collect 7crs.After that Maruthi narrated script to Nitin and the same was made with Sirish as Kotta janda but the film didnot work out. Bellamkonda Suresh came to produce  Maruthi's second Bus Stop and though the film ws reelased on Sunday, it went on to collect 12crs.

Maruthi says he did Prema Katha Chitram without any script for fun writing impromtu. Maruthi Says Kotha Janta made with 5.5 crs budget collected 1.15 crs in Vizag alone. Now Maruthi is coming to entetain with Bhale Bhale Magadivoy.
