Karthikeya 2 Vs Raksha Bandhan: 'Karthikeya 2' beats 'Raksha Bandhan', and the film progressed to a hit in five days
Recently, two big bollywood films were released in theatres. But in front of these big budget films, once again the small budget films of the South are making a splash. Both these films are seen giving competition to South Industry's small budget film 'Karthikeya 2'. 'Raksha Bandhan' is not able to stand ahead of 'Karthikeya 2' in any way in terms of earnings. In this way, the competition between South cinema and bollywood is being seen once again at the box office. While this small-budget film South is winning, on the other hand, the big-budget 'Raksha Bandhan' seems to be stacked in front of it.
'Karthikeya 2' is on the way to becoming a hit
Actor Nikhil Siddharth's 'Karthikeya 2', which was released just two days after Bollywood's khiladi Kumar's film 'Raksha Bandhan', is rocking the box office. This small-budget film from the South is wooing the telugu audience as well as the audience of the hindi belt. The shows of the film have been extended after four days of its release. Initially released on 53 screens, the film is now being shown on more than 1575 screens. The film did a business of Rs 5.04 crore on the first day, after which it saw an increase in its earnings till Monday. On Tuesday, Nikhil's film collected a collection of 3.50 crores, which was more than Akshay's film. Extending the fourth day also, it defeated 'Raksha Bandhan'. The advantage of increasing screens is falling on its earnings. The film earned around Rs 3 crore on the fifth day, with which the film's earnings have now reached Rs 24.90 crore. Accordingly, this South film is moving very fast towards recovering its cost.
Raksha Bandhan's earnings drop drastically
While on one hand 'Karthikeya 2' is poised to become a hit, on the other hand, Akshay Kumar's 'Raksha Bandhan' is making its way towards being a flop day by day. Akshay is going to hit a hat-trick of flops with this film. The box office collection of a big budget film like 'Raksha Bandhan' is a handful as compared to 'Karthikeya 2'. The film earned 6.31 crores on Monday, after which there was a further decline in its earnings on Tuesday. After earning Rs 2.11 crore on Tuesday, the film could only do business of Rs 1.70 crore on wednesday, which is much less than Wednesday's collection of 'Karthikeya 2'. Similarly, on wednesday also the earnings of 'Raksha Bandhan' have been less than the South film. The total collection of 'Raksha Bandhan' now stands at Rs 38.82 crore.
