An official of the Oshiwara police station said that annu kapoor received a call on thursday from a person posing as a bank employee, who said that the actor needs to update his KYC form. After this, the actor shared his bank details and one-time password i.e. OTP with him. He further said, 'After some time, the caller transferred money twice from Annu Kapoor's account to two other accounts. In these transfers, transactions worth Rs 4.36 lakh were done. However, the bank called and immediately informed the actor about these transactions and also informed him that his account had been tampered with.
Soon after getting the call from the bank, annu kapoor without delay contacted the police and also the banks where the money was transferred. "Both these accounts have been frozen by the banks and the actor will get Rs 3.08 lakh back," the police officer said. A case has been registered under the provisions of the indian Penal Code and the Information technology Act. Efforts are on to nab the online fraudster."
