Ace director Maniratnam who delivered a comeback blockbuster after the disastrous Kaatru Veliyidai with the mega multistarrer movie Chekka Chivantha Vaanam will next be directing the historical fiction ponniyin selvan, the celluloid adaptation of kalki Krishnamoorthy's epic novel.
Featuring an ensemble cast the movie will begin shooting in thailand this month and earlier it was said that actor parthiban will act in ponniyin selvan, but now it has been revealed that after the success of Oththa Seruppu parthiban will begin his next directorial venture and hence has quit Ponniyin Selvan.
It must be noted that a few days back, actor-director Lal posted on instagram that he is playing an old warrior and has been training in horse riding for the role and that the movie which will be made in two parts also stars Chiyaan Vikram, trisha, jayam ravi, karthi, aishwarya Rai. National award-winning actor dhanush delivered a massive blockbuster recently with the movie asuran helmed by acclaimed maker vetrimaran, and this celluloid adaptation of Vekkai novel penned by Poomani marked the kollywood debut of london independent singer Teejay Arunasalam.
