Ponniyin Selvan, Mani Ratnam's most expensive plan to date, has been filmed at a breakneck rate. The film had been 70% completed before the epidemic rendered it unfilmable. The team, meanwhile, has restarted filming and, following a huge schedule in Madhya Pradesh, has now relocated to Pollachi, Coimbatore, to finish the remaining parts of the historical film.

However, the movie has lately made waves in the entertainment world after aishwarya Rai Bachchan's look from a key moment in the film was leaked on the internet. This was quickly followed by the leak of a snippet from trisha krishnan and Karthi's duet. The creator was enraged since each of these breaches were linked to key sections of the movie. However, the unconventional filmmaker imposed strict regulations and checks on the locations to avoid a repeat of the annoying incident.

And now we learn that the crew has figured out how the leaks occurred. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, one of the members of the complex costume design team had shot a few photos and videos on their personal cell phone. Outside of the ponniyin selvan group, the same individual distributed it with few very close friends, and it then made its way to the internet, where it made headlines on numerous cinema pages and fan groups. Following the leaks, the director forbade any cast or crew members from bringing their own recorders or phones onto the set.
