Film distributors in tollywood have protested the latest order made by the jagan Mohan reddy administration about the use of internet ticketing in movie theatres, but no one is prepared to speak out in front of the public; instead, everyone is quietly campaigning to have the GO reversed. Until recently, the exhibitors paid taxes to the government from the money they received from ticket sales. Most of the time, they were underplaying ticket sales in order to avoid paying the government the full tax.

The government has now turned the process around. Since the government runs the internet site where tickets are sold, it receives the full payment and will then pay the theatres after deducting its tax and a premium for online ticketing. Due to their concerns that they may not receive the promised government collections, these exhibitors are refusing to sign the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the ap State Film, Television, and Theatre Development Corporation as required by the GO.

A renowned telugu film producer who has been in the business of distribution as well as owning a renowned production company for many years has made the decision to take the jagan administration on head-on because he believes the government order will destroy the film industry. This producer, who has a distribution network in both states, has been engaged in a sort of cold war with the jagan administration since the latter sought to seize the Visakhapatnam property that belonged to his production company.
