After several disastrous outings like Officer, Akkineni Nagarjuna is back on-screen teaming with Chi La Sow maker Rahul Ravindran to deliver a French movie remake in the namesake sequel to his hit Manmadhudu. Here's team AP Herald's exclusive first on net Manmadhudu 2 review.

Sam (Nagarjuna) is a perfumer who's turned a Playboy after his first love failed and as his family lead by his mother (Lakshmi) plan to get him married he brings Avantika (Rakul Preet Singh) whom he has hired to act as girlfriend and to help him in his Marriage cancellation plan. However, things go awry and even his back up plan goes wrong. Slowly Sam and Avantika begin to develop feelings for each other. Was Sam able to forget past failure and fall in love and unite with Avantika is what Manmadhudu 2 is all about.

Nagarjuna is energetic and handsome and as the Playboy, with a sad past, he's superb and keeps the movie proceedings focused on him for the most part convincingly. Rakul Preet Singh overacts throughout and she's yet to even lip sync properly. Lakshmi is good, while Keerthy Suresh and Samantha's cameos are impressive. Vennela Kishore is terrific and tickles the funny bone whenever he appears on the screen. The rest of the cast is just adequate.

Chaithan Bharadwaj's songs do not make much impact while his background score is decent and cinematography by Sukumar makes sure Manmadhudu 2 is colorful and pleasant. Editing by Chota Prasad and Nageswar Reddy must have been better and crisp. A lot of double entendres. No where close to the predecessor. Rahul's writing has been poor as he relied entirely on double meaning vulgar jokes.

Rahul Ravindran impressed in Chi La Sow but this time around he has taken a remake subject and looks totally out of place. He doesn't have any control over the screenplay which moves awkwardly and is filled with unnecessary excessive liplocks and double meaning dialogues. Nagarjuna and Lakshmi alone are good and keep the movie going despite flaws while everyone lead by Rakul Preet Singh overact and annoy with their over the top act. With superb technical team and Nagarjuna in command the movie must have been better but Rahul Ravindran flunked and proved chi la sow was a fluke and he's a one film wonder.

Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rao Ramesh, Rakul PreetNo where close to the iconic Manmadhudu and Rahul proves his first movie success was a fluke!
