What Is Good: Murugadoss Story & Direction, Villain Characterization, Comedy in parts.
What Is Bad: Vijay's native Tamil action, Chubby Kajal's unappealing Bombay attire, Music, Lyrics, Dubbing.
Boring Scenes: Entire love track between Vijay and Kajal. Almost all songs.
Watch It Or Not ?:Not a family entertainer like Gazini. You may still watch it once with your friends. "Not for Vijay neither for Kajal performances, but for Murugadoss Story Plot on Terrorist-Sleeper-Cells, Army and Mind game based screenplay"

Thupaki Movie Review : Star Performances
Vijay may deliver perfect Tamil nativity but always has difficulty in impressing Telugu audience, which is clearly evident in this movie too. Even with very strong hero characterization, Vijay couldn't live up to the expectations. With not very important heroine character, Kajal on the other hand added her own share of disappointment to the equation with flabby, unimpressive north indian looks. Villain characterization, screen presence, body language were amazing. Vidyut made most out of the role he was given.
Thuppakki Review : Direction, Music & Technical Aspects
Murugadoss direction is fantastic, Thoughtful story with twists based screenplay engages audience. Combined with bad lyrics, 'Harris Jayaraj' music is big minus for this movie, Audience wouldn't remember even single tune or lyric line. Dubbing is another huge minus to the film it always disconnect audience from the movie.
Thuppakki Review : Analysis
One and all should appreciate director Murugadoss for his honest and brave attempt with this message oriented film on Terrorist-Sleeper-Cells and Indian Army. Correct lead pairs could have complemented value of the film further, but the current cast Vijay & Kajal is damaging to this film. First half of the film elevates Terrorist-Sleeper-Cells Concept, Hero, Heroine and filled with bit of comedy still makes you feel dragging at times, however pace of the movie jumps up with the plot of 12 Army men killing 12 Sleeper-Cell member at the same time [Such a blood pumping scene for all youngsters; never seen in recent movies]. Second half of the film is all about mind game between Hero and Villain with bit of romance, & comedy around. These mind games would surely entertain young crowd, Movie closes with an emotional note and make everyone nod their head to the message Murugadoss was giving through the movie.
Thuppakki Review : ConclusionPros :
- Murugadoss [Story], Murugadoss [Screenplay], Murugadoss [Direction]
- Hero Characterization
- Villain Characterization
- Miscast of Vijay & Kajal Agarwal
- Unimpressive love track between Lead Pairs
