There has been a surprising piece of news in Economic Times recently. According to this, the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are all set to divide assets and institutions in terms of 58:42 ratio amicably.
There are more than 100 training institutions under the Schedule 10 of the AP Reorganization Act as well as another 89 government corporations and agencies under Schedule 9. The Union Home Ministry will be forming a committee for this division.
Telangana was completely against the division initially saying that all the institutions needs to be divided on the basis of geographical locations. Supreme Court dealt with the case filed by Andhra Pradesh and gave the verdict in favour of AP’s argument.
The judgement stated that the 58:42 ratio is to be followed for all these institutions and now the Telangana government seems to have agreed. Senior IAS officers of both states will now hammer out the division which may fetch AP thousands of crores!
