CM kcr announced an all-out war on drug usage on Wednesday, ordering police and excise authorities to destroy illicit marijuana production, sale, and usage in the state with a ferocity. To strengthen monitoring, he directed police officials to form a secret cell commanded by a director General of police officer.

With reports of increased ganja usage, kcr believes it is critical to launching an all-out war on drug consumption. He also believes that action must be taken before the problem becomes out of hand and dangerous. He requested that police authorities devise a detailed strategy to eradicate ganja growing in the state. "If we fail to handle this threat, all of the govt's welfare and development initiatives would be for naught," he added.

Excise Commissioner Sarfaraz ahmed has been instructed by telangana chief minister kcr to enhance the Enforcement Wing as well as flying squads. He also proposed tighter monitoring at educational institutions and thus more checkpoints all along state's frontiers. kcr stated that he will call a meeting shortly to devise a plan to tackle the threat. Further adding he stated that the police Department, as well as the Excise Department, must work together to improve the State's image by completely eliminating the drug scourge and making telangana a drug-free state.
