The supply of vegetables to the chennai coimbatore market has been curtailed as a result of severe rains in tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and karnataka during the last two weeks, and their prices have risen considerably. Tomatoes, in example, have increased by Rs 120 per kilogramme. In retail marketplaces, it can cost up to Rs 140 per kg. Meanwhile, farm green shops managed on behalf of co-operative organisations, such as Tiruvallikeni Diocese, sell for Rs. 85 per kg.

Other veggies have also increased in price in the coimbatore market. The majority of vegetables cost more than Rs 50 per kg. Drumsticks, in particular, are priced at Rs. 100, while potatoes are priced at Rs. 30. "The yield of plants has fallen due to the persistent rains," M. Thiyakarajan, President of the coimbatore Market Flower, fruit, and fruit Traders Welfare Association, said. As a result, vegetable supply to the coimbatore market has fallen, while prices have increased. "Vegetable supply will increase after the monsoon, and prices will fall," he said.

As per sources, the tomato prices might get slashed only after the rains reduced and things turn back to normalcy slowly and until then, the prices will be rocket high and consumers should be using it wisely.
