Sweden's first female prime minister resigned just in few hours after taking charge. Magdalena Andersson was elected as Sweden's first female prime minister on wednesday but was forced to step down as her coalition party withdrew from politics. Who is this Magdalena Anderson? 

Magdalena, a former athlete as a swimmer, entered politics in 1996. She began her political career as a political adviser to the-Prime minister Goran Persson. She has been the Finance minister for the last seven years. Before Magdalena was elected as a prime minister, sweden was the only Nordic country without a female Prime Minister. 

What is the reason for resignation? 

On wednesday, Magdalena was elected as a prime minister by a majority of Swedish lawmakers. Magdalena, a 54-year-old Social Democrat, was elected in the sense of after 100 years of Sweden's female suffrage which was granted. Many members of parliament applauded her after she was elected as a prime minister. The parliamentary speaker said party leaders would be consulted on what to do next after the resignation of Magdalena Andersson. The Green party departed from the coalition because the members of parliament did not approve the budget they submitted. 

What's next? 

Magdalena Andersson is likely to win if a referendum on the PM is held in parliament again. Because the Green party, which withdrew from the coalition, has promised to support her.
